Default 'Reaching Out'...

:ranton:

That it, i've had enough.

I'm fed up with people using the stupid american phrase 'reaching out' to describe 'making contact' or 'getting in touch'.

I'm going to set up an email rule that automatically deletes every incoming email i receive that contains that phrase.

If only i could set up a similar rule for every email that starts with the word 'So'

Grrrrrr

Add "onboarding" to that.

And "Issue" when you mean "problem"

I invariably alliterate it to 'reaching round'.

I despise the use of 'get in touch' when they mean 'contact details' - it's all a bit too Savile as well, IMO.

Then again, the whole world appears to be increasingly infantilised, so perhaps no surprises.

Any telephone call that's "reaching out" to me is trying to sell something I don't need, otherwise I'd have contacted them.

If anyone "reaches out" to me to sell something, I just tell them I've already "gotten one".

What about 'touch base'?

All of the above irritate me greatly too.

Yeah, a bit too much like 'touching cloth'.

Might use that one in future...

Best time I came accoss that was in a West country pub, "Can I get one of your English beers?" Met with, "You stay your side of the bar, I'll get it for you...............................when I'm ready".
