Default The Sport Thread

9 months after the first Sport Thread, it's time for another

The topic I'd like to open with is the imminent return of Tiger Woods to the PGA Tour.

Golf has certainly been affected by the global financial woes, sponsors aren't there, viewers aren't watching, amateurs aren't playing.

Golf is a great, televisual sport full of emotional extremes, most of which have been seen on the TV. BUT, golf needs Tiger Woods to make a successful, healthy return to the game, otherwise its decline may have already begun.

You can have all your Gooses, VJs, Big Phils, Harringtons, Kims, Mcilroys or Montys but they are almost nothing without the man they call Tiger.

Welcome back son, hope to see you winning again soon.

Some people are saying he's picked a strange event for his comeback because of the number of rounds he'll have to pack in to win. However, I guess he's either fit or he isn't and he has won the World Matchplay on three previous occasions.

Looking forward to his return as he's been badly missed ...

Tiger has been sorely missed and YES Golf has been worse off with out him. This could be the greatest come back of all time - not only for him on a personal level but also the bigger picture of Golf

He is a pure professional and is a breath of fresh air when compairing him to other sports stars.

yeah that was a great result, really pleased for Spurs as it is a busy 2 weeks for them but a great way to start a tough fixture list.

I reckon you might have a chance against ManU this weekend, cos they have a few defensive injuries, bigger fish to fry. Also if you go out of Europe this week then winning the Carling Cup is another route back in

Good luck to you, I have a soft spot for Spurs - basically cos I hate Arsenal (ok I said it - sorry!)

I agree.

Some fascinating match ups. The results are very difficult to call.

I think it did. He needs to not think about it though. I'm looking forward to Cotto vs Pacquiao, should it come off.
