Well, got to learn Cisco.

Anyone recomend a book on how to configure routers?

Depends what you really want to do. If you want to pass the CCNA, I've heard the Sybex book is pretty good. For everything else, the Cisco Press books pretty much cover it. Check out Cisco CCNA Exam #640-607 and the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices (ICND) books for a start. O'Reilly also has a Cisco IOS in a Nutshell book if you're into their sort of reference books.

Yeah, what are you running? you can be as simple as "router rip" to a full ospf or bgp config. also the hardware is a determining factor. i assume you are doing this to help at work. the best thing to do is to get a CCO login and just read everything on their extranet. you can probably get access from your reseller, if not, threaten to go to another reseller and they will either bend over backwards for you or you will find another reseller willing to give you bigger discounts and CCO access.

finally got 2 T1 lines approved, 1 for our headquarters, and another for our main plant. Went ahead and purchased 2 Cisco 1760 routers, and got them in today. Now I have to configure the damn things. I'm pretty much self taught when it comes to my work. I've been pushing them to make more and more changes. the good thing about it, is that I learn new things as I go.

When I started 2 years ago, they had 386 IBM desktops running windows 95 connecting to a Novel server, and used individual compuserve accounts for internet access. Today, 3 windows 2000 servers, 1 citrix box, all new dell optiplex PCs running windows 2000 professional, PBX phone system, and, we're switching to Voice Over IP as soon as the Lines go in place.

while I'm also self-taught, those routers are supposed to be very tricky. I think ltweintz is a network admin or something, you might wanna pm him.
