what trojan did it say you had?

Also, what version of Windows is it?

search google or altavista with the trojan name, if nothing else.

The normal plain kind or the "ribbed for her pleasure" kind? Sorry, couldn't help it when I hear Trojans.

As no_really said, just google the name of the virus and add the word remove and you should get some good hits that will direct you step by step on removing it.

What is your virus checker saying when you try and delete it? Can you just take note of the file name and directory and delete it manually? Even if you can I would google it first so that you understand what you have and confirm that just deleting the file will clear your system. You may need to go into regedit and delete a few keys too but make sure that you back up your system before you do that.

If that should fail, you may need to start your PC in safe mode and run your antivirus program to check if it will delete it then

mcafee says their is no virus. the free trendmicro scan says their is a virus, unless its a catch to buy their product to delete the virus.

Guedo AFAIK these virus scanners run off a database that they develop with all of their known viruses so the McAfee database my be missing the particular virus that you have but the trendmicro has it. Have you run all of the updates on Mcafee?

Your post only tells us half the story so unless you tell us how you went with the advice that you've been given so far there isn't really anything else that can be done.

Good luck with it.

mcafee is all up to date.

i did reboot my computer, and so far the clock haas stayed the same and has not switched time on me. perhaps i got lucky. im going to keep running scans just incase something is in my comp. spybot keeps detecting advertising agents, but they get deleted a few times a week.
