convenience store in mall - what else to sell?
i opened my store in late July in the Capital City Mall in Camp Hill, PA. So far lots of good comments, etc.... sales are ok... not spectacular just yet.... holiday season is upon us so they are picking up for that reason alone...
i sell soft pretzels, fountain soda, bottled soda, energy drinks, water, coffee, cappachino, lottery, pain relief, cigarettes & blunts (for the weed smokers), candy bars, gum, mint, Icee, zippo's and costmetic contact lenses....
what else could i sell? I need some goofy trendy thing.. (kind of like the contacts).... ????
thnks

4locko....
Lunch items and snacks.
Toiletries and female hygiene products.
Espresso shots to keep mall employees caffeinated.
Maybe Nachos?
I guessing you don't want to compete with the food vendors at the food court

Popcorn (aside from the machine, very low cost with high margins)?

on trendy things like silly bands etc you have to keep your finger on the pulse of the public and find that stuff early and push it hard.
the faster you can move on stocking anything the better you are going to be....keep your relationships with broad spectrum suppliers good as they will be your first contacts to find the "goofy" things as they hit the market.
use social networks to your advantage.... key in on anything people are posting about as far as products are concerned

Scot,
You are still a paying member just to post once a year?
What did you finally name the store anyway?
And is this store just basically a counter or do you have retail space? Pic?
