Ford's Rollover Solution
Does Ford take its dangerous vehicles off the road? NO! Instead:
"Ford Wants to Send Drivers of Sport Utility Vehicles Back to School" By KEITH BRADSHER July 4, 2001 The New York Times DETROIT, July 2 |
Sounds like a good idea to me. IMO it's far too easy to get a drivers license. It's more a right of passage than a license to operate a very dangerous bit of machinery.

interesting, very interesting. and people do not realize the difference between cars and suvs.
on tuesday, at lunch with the marketing folk, one guy says to me, 'so I hear you race your car', and I talked about not racing but driver eduction events at a track, where its safe and controlled and he kept asking and asking, wanting to know if any car could come out there, as do most people who inquire about these events (but do not really realize how fast you will go). so then after talking about it for a while and talking about racing for a while, I ask, so what do you drive? he said, 'a bronco'. ugh. he says he races this quite often, especially driving up and down 2222 - which is a fun, curvey, up and down hills road here in austin. *shaking head* a good move indeed by ford, but doesn't really fix the problem. it educates which is great. having a requirement / license to drive suvs should be implimented, but most likely that would be state mandated, which in texas, would be difficult since approximatley 75% (hearsay) of the suv/truck sales are in TX....yet, there are certain rules about building shopping centers and malls which require so many 'small car/ compact car' parking spots. ugh. how back-asswards. |
The SUVs are more of a problem then most people see.
Mandatory licensing is a must for the safety and education of both their drivers and the people around them. The time has come. |
Ford only needs to put 2 extra booster wheels.... aka training wheels.

I found the perfect cartoon to go with this thread!
