Show me your flooring
Hey y’all,
looking at a new house this week and if we move in, I want to put a coating down on the floor. I’d love to see some pics and hear any feedback about products you’ve used.

I have not done my garage yet, but am going the DIY epoxy route but not big box store kits, the heavy duty stuff. This place seemed as good as any and will probably be who I order from:

You pick your color and square footage and they send a pallet with everything you need but it costs a couple to a few grand and a weekend of your time. I like they tile idea too, and tiles are better if you have any moisture problem in your garage. You test by laying down a sheet of plastic on the garage floor for a couple days and if you pull it up and if it has dew on it, epoxy probably won't adhere well. But usually those floors have dark looking spots where they are continually damp, and other floors will just look dry all the time. I have had both but my current home has a dry floor without moisture issues and the epoxy floors clean easier with just a leaf blower or a quick mop.

That looks lovely. My garage will never be that clean because I have a property that requires a ton of annual work so I need chainsaws, a lawn tractor, tree trimming crap, snow plow, ATV to plow with. I have to play Tetris to get it all in. This photo and my age makes me yearn for a simpler life. Or maybe I need a big shed. But that is a nice clean look.

Wow your garage looks amazing! Wish I could have a setup like this but I do too much machine work and grinding in my garage. Someday I might have a separate building for my Bridgeport, and G&L surface grinder and all the other machines so I could just use my garage for cars. One can dream.

I am not at home so I cannot give you a picture of my garage. I have a 4 bay 1100’ square foot with one bay being an enclosed shop space so paint will not settle on the other garaged cars.
I put down quality commercial short nap carpet without any backing. Blue grey. This was 25 years ago. I love it. I am on 5 acres so the dogs coming in have the carpet to absorb a lot of the dirt. I use a vacuum cleaner to keep it clean. Soft on the feet and getting under vehicles to work is easy as it is already soft. I have no problems sanding, cutting, or doing metal work in the shop part as the stuff just vacuums right up. Easy to see some small dropped parts.
