The 2012 Honda Indy 200 Parade Lap Photos
I had a good time at the track today. The weather ended up being pretty nice. The slight cloud cover made for much less harsh lighting than in past years and I think the photos turned out better for it. I think I got everyone, but if you were out there and I missed you, let me know (car color, approx position in line, driver, etc) and I'll have another look. Its possible I missed something in the rush to upload.
Click through to my Flickr page here:
/. If you add me as a friend on Flickr I think you can download the full sized photos directly. Otherwise shoot me an email through the board or a message on Flickr and I can send you the full sized file.

VERY nice shots! Taken with a D300... same camera I have! And a nice lens, to boot. Chris, if you click on one of the Flickr Photos in the upper right hand corner (where it says taken with a Nikon D300) it will load a page with all of the settings.
Great photos. Thanks for sharing.

I'm thrilled that everyone is enjoying the photos.
Like pbook said, clicking the camera's model name should show you the full settings. But to summarize, I put the D300 into Aperture priority mode, set the aperture to f/5.6 and let the camera figure out what shutter speed to use. ISO was at the base setting (ISO200 for the D300). I used Matrix metering and single point continuous autofocus. I tried to get my focus point about where the S2000 driver's head should be if I could fill the frame with the car. I figured from the distance I was shooting and the aperture setting, I'd get enough depth of field to keep the racer and any passengers in focus, too.
Generally, my priority is to get a clear shot of everyone, so I aim for a shutter speed high enough to stop the action. It could be fun to go lower and get some motion blur on the wheels or in the background, etc, but since they only give you guys one lap (normally, haha) I prefer to get a decent photo of everybody rather than experiment and miss a bunch of shots.

So I know Mocky was the blue CR with the Volk wheels... who had the other blue CR? Are they on here? I never see CRs around and then saw 2 together at the race. Made me wish I'd brought mine lol.
