Hi Everyone!

Wanted to start an "official" thread to gauge interest in the Stan Hywet Car Show on Sunday, June 15th. For those that haven't been to Stan Hywet check out their web page at www.stanhywet.org. Here is the official description of the event from their site:

46th Annual Antique, Classic & Collector Car Show
Stan Hywet Hall 714 N. Portage Path - Akron, Ohio 44303

You don't have to be a dad to enjoy this much-anticipated Father's Day event. With more than 350 vehicles in 24 different classes displayed on the grounds of rubber baron F.A. Seiberling's former home, this quality show is a must-see for all car enthusiasts and admirers. This year, celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Ford automobile. Children's activities, museum quality vehicles, food, and music add to the afternoon. The Father's Day Car Show and Auction are brought to you by Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens and the Ohio Region Classic Car Club of America.
Car Show: Sunday, June 15, 9am-4:30pm
$7 general admission, $5 Stan Hywet Members (If we go together, I will get us the member rate. You pay at the door)

Note: they cancel the show in the event of rain and reschedule

The best part of the show is watching these great old machines (Some dating back to the 1900's and 1910's!!) come driving in to the grounds at 9am. Therefore I suggest the following agenda:

8:00-8:45am - Meet at my house. We live on a quiet street about 1 mile from the show. I have room for about 10 or 11 S2K's to park off-street. The street is very safe and not well traveled if we spill over (Mine will be in the street!).

8:45-9:00am - Walk to the show.

9:00-11:30?? - At the show. There are a lot of great cars to see. The rule of the show is that the cars have to be a minimum of 25 years old. That means everything from 1978 and earlier is eligible. There were plenty of classic Ferrari's, Mercedes, Jaguars, etc.. last year. No mistake, though - the majority of the cars are good ol' American chrome machines!!

If you bring a not-so-enthusiast guest, the Mansion is open for tours. If you haven't been through, it is an amazing house!! The gardens are very beautiful too. See the web page for details.

11:30-11:45 - Walk back to my house.

12:00-1:00pm - Cook out lunch and homage to S2K's in the driveway with a renewed perspective on how far automotive technology has come!!

1:00pm-2:30pm - S2K drive through the Cuyahoga National Park. Route TBD, but we will definitely go up Riverview to take a spin down Meadows Drive, with stops in Pennisula and Boston Twp along the way.

Where we split up after that is up to each person, but people are welcome to end the tour back at my place.

Please post if you are interested. I know with the Route 26 re-schedule that this show falls only one week after that trip, but can you ever get too much of a good thing!?!?!?!

If you're definitely interested send me a PM and I will forward directions to my house.

Thanks!!

Brian

p.s. I will be following this rough schedule no matter what so even if we only get one or two people interested this will still be a go!! But I know that is not going to be a problem. Carmen was just telling me that he couldn't wait for any excuse to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ford!!!

We plan on attending this event, sounds like a good time. If the wife don't want to look at cars then she will have plenty of other thing there to keep her occupied!

bk,

Count me in. May even talk the wife into attending. Btw, Bill Ford Jr. is getting closer to writing out a big fat check to us and taking back his POS vehicle. According to Mazda's lawyers, "we definitely won't be litigating this case". No shit Sherlock! Any jury consisting of 12 people with a collective IQ of 7 would find this vehicle to be a POS lemon. Honda, Toyota and BMW...everything else...landfill. . Well, I guess I'd "take" a Ferrari too.

And what better way to spend an anniversary than at a cookout and car show? I know Virginia and the little tike would prefer to be at the car show than at home opening a lame anniversary gift. Trust me....we're coming up on 23 years.
