Default Flicking Oil Light Of Death

Well two days ago I was pulling back into my driveway, when my S started to act a little funny. The oil light would come on and flicker but only in Idle. The car would also shudder a little bit. I checked the oil and noticed it was pretty low. Which is strange because I usually keep all my fluids topped off, and check it normally. It's an AP1 with around 120k miles. I added some more oil and it seems to run ok, but the oil light still comes on sometimes during idle.

Question is, Am I doomed? I'm going to drop the pan, and pull the vtec solenoid this weekend to see if there is metal shavings everywhere, but I'm fearing there being main bearing failure here. I've ran her in my driveway a few times and realized she is running a little rough, also some weird sounds when the clutch is engaging. How could this happen. WHY ME!?!?! I'm not that skilled to the extent of building a new motor myself, so the though of that scares me. But I would love my car to be ready for this summer show season.

Anyway, I'm dropping the pan soon, and just have a couple of questions.

1. If I do drop the pan and see obvious metal chunks, and in the screen for the solenoid. What are my best options? Rebuild or just buy a new block?

2. Best places in Ohio to get motor work done? I'd like someone experienced in s2000s and that has a good rep to drop my new motor in or rebuild mine if possible.

Advice?

pull the drain plug and collect the oil in something clear so you can look at it before you go pulling the pan. also change oil filter

from there keep me posted

You can look at your oil and change it ,but I would run an oil pressure test before dropping the pan. It is extremely common for oil psi switches to fail like this on evo's and dsm's. Mine did.

Time to find a low mile used motor or just get a short block.
