The Ohio legislature considered removing the front plate requirement a couple of years ago, but there is no effective lobby to push the issue.

Even with all the hassel of not running the front plate, I am surprised how many people in my neighborhood don't run the front Plate. But New Albany has plenty of improper plate display and/or rear plate light not functioning infraction along with speed or DUI's posted in the paper every week. My BMW dealer was kind enough to ask me if I wanted the bracket on either of my cars since he noticed that I didn't have the front plate on the S.

I've never had a front plate on any of my cars. I've never been pulled over for a license plate infraction. The last time I was pulled over for speeding in the S in Ohio, the cop didn't even ask about my plate. Like mentioned before, keep the plate in the trunk and tell them it just came out of the shop.

I took off my front plate on my Integra 4 or so years ago and never put one on the S. Never had a problem with a cop. Was even pulled over once for driving a little spiritedly in the Integra and the cop didn't even get out of the car, he just told me to slow down and be careful.
