Got My Doors blown off by a new 911 Twin Turbo
Sunday was the day that I realized that my S can play with the big dogs. I was heading towards one of my favorite on ramps to 161 by me (Joe, you know the one) going through the gears I notice a silver Porsche coming up on me fast. I am doing 70+mph by now. So I say to my self, time to play. Hard on the brakes and down to second at about 45, full throttle and drift through the corner. Should have been a good show. I see the Porsche make the corner. I am now on the highway, shift in to fourth, the Porsche is gaining "FAST". I am now in 5th and acceleration is tapering off. The Porsche goes past me like I am standing still. I am near redline in 5th! Now in 6th. We hit traffic and back to normal speed. We get on 270 S and here we go again. The Porsche takes off. I am surprised that I can keep up. He pulls away, but I never loose that much distance to him. We hit traffic by Easton at speeds that we would not get a get out of jail free card Traffic again at about 80mph. I see a whole in the traffic, but so does the Porsche. I do not know what gear this guy went into, but all I can say is that this 911 took off like nothing I have ever seen All I saw was the rear of the 911 hunker down. It sounded like an afterburner lighted. I have been dusted by fast cars, but this is the fastest I have seen yet. It is amazing what our S can do compared to a $110,00.00 Porsche. I see this 911 turbo by me all the time. I need to meet him and commend him on driving this car the way it was meant to be driven.

Dave? In the rain??? Never!!!!!
I'm assuming you are talking about the 996 911 Turbo? Those things are damn fast and from what I have read will pull *hard* in pretty much any gear. Try not to cry when you finally talk to the guy and find out that he never downshifted from 6th.

All kidding aside, be careful. I'm sure you know it doesn't take much of anything to go wrong at that kind of speed to get really ugly. Think of how Rt. 26 will miss you if you're gone!

Sounds like a race I had with a Pantera when I was in High School. I pulled up next to one with my FZR600 streetbike (modified of course). Egging him on for a straightaway off the rotary we agreed to race. Keep in mind the bike did 0-60 in 2.9seconds....but all i felt was the gravel that the Pantera was ripping up when i fell behind him doing about 110mph. We pulled upto the light and he said "the day one of those beats one these hell will freeze over". I just wish I had my s2000 into some turns with him now.
