Indycar Decal Promotional Program 2011
2011 Decal Program - Indycar and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course
It's year number four, and I have the official word from Indycar - We are going to do the decal program this year, in conjunction with the Izod Indycar Series and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the race weekend of August 5-7. I expect this to go as well as last year. We've all learned that sitting out on the track in the heat for long periods is as much of a good thing as black storm clouds approaching..... Here is a quick breakdown of what we will do: ∙ we will put decals on our cars, approximately 4-6 weeks before the race weekend, and then show them off as much as possible. We will plan some photo meets and ops and take tons of pictures. I hope to pass the decals out during the Arthritis Foundation Car Show in Dublin Ohio during the second weekend in July. That show is a great place to show-off the decals (plus, Mid-Ohio's offices are on there) and it saves me a lot of time and money handing them out in bulk. ∙ Mid-Ohio and/or Indycar may have some pre-race activities for us to attend (more photo ops), but more than likely, not. However, the track is under new ownership and they've put on this year's St Pete Indycar race, and will put on Toronto's. This schedule has not been finalized and can change day-to-day because of the time demands of the Indycar drivers and their schedule. This may include some on-track activities - such as an S2000 parade with each carrying an Indycar driver or VIP or nobody  Verified with Mid-Ohio today (5/10) Each participant (car) will receive; - weekend General Admission tickets (two) - paddock passes (two) - a special infield parking pass (one) We will have the same parking area as last year - this is a great spot! Also, we may bet discount coupons for food, souvenirs, etc... Link - http://www.midohio.com Links to some decal programs from the past https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?act=P...p=16316814&st=0 https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry13322362 https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showt...&#entry13702459 https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/815...hio-2010-pics/ The max count is yet to be determined. We can decal 40 - 45, but this will be limited to Ohio folks and those in surrounding states (like last year.) There maybe fewer cars in the parade lap - tbd, assuming we have a parade lap. You must be part of the decal list to be considared for the parade lap. In the past, every car has been allowed to go out (even without a rider.) Any S2000 can sport the decals, however, two obvious (to me) items for parade lap cars: - You can't have a hardtop installed to do parade - No rollcages - Drivers and VIPs aren't going to contort thru a jungle jim of tubing I'll start a list below for the decal program only. Use this thread for all questions - I will answer as soon as i can, and I will add info as it becomes available. Of course, all of this is subject to change without notice  This is shaping up to be the Ohio event of the year - so spread the word! :blah: As a side note, you are representing The Izod Indycar Series and The Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course - so if any word of street racing, drinking and driving, etc... get back to me, you are out of the program. If you have yellow party-plates on your car, then don't bother asking. You are more than welcome to join us at the races, but you cannot participate. Also, drive with courtesy - use your turn signals, let people in infront of you, wave back at the little kids, etc... Weaving in and out of traffic at 90mph isn't good for advertising. This list is finalized Updates are sure to follow. Thanks, -Pete Update; Read what Mocky has written below concerning the entrance to the paddock... Also, if you haven't done the decal program before and i have never personally met you, please type a little something about who you do know or what activities you are involved in concerning S2KI. Once your name is on the list - your in. There is one more thing I'd like to suggest.. If we do get the same parking area... when you walk in through the entrance where the cars are parked, please be courteous to the volunteers. They are there for watching the gate to let other S2000s in... Last year we had some issues there and I don't want to see that happen again. :nono: Perhaps we let them know somehow that we can walk through that gate for the corral.. Thoughts? Maybe show wristband, your car keys, and point to your car.... and say thank you ... FFS..they are volunteers...show them some damn courtesy... |
