Mid Ohio in the rain

"Do not even think of driving a "slick" or R Comp type tire. Use a true race "rain" tire, or a soft street tire that hasn't been tracked/autocrossed."

I don't feel so bad that I spun out driving Mid-Ohio in the pouring rain, with water pooling on the track, three years ago after reading these testimonials.
I did a HPDE (Acura High Performance) course at Mid-Ohio while I still owned my S2000 and even driving slow, spun out just after China Beach. Luckily, I spun out into the grass. Didn't hurt the car at all. I just got back on the track and kept going. Important lesson learned.
I hope the OP is still going, even if it rains.
I plan to do the AHP course again this year with my NSX, should be fun.

Hey all, I just want to say thank you again for the words of wisdom. I ran in the rain and while there was no way to improve on the first dry session, I was able to successfully navigate the course with no off-track excursions during the rain and found the grippier parts of the course. I learned a lot and respect that track. I didnt have much time to learn the line of the second half in the dry (if you dont trust the track will be there over those blind crests you lose momentum and time waiting to see the line) but I had fun in both conditions. I hope to return again, but I hope for drier sessions.
