Default New member looking for a s2k

Hello everyone ,
I'm a new member here ( about 3 months ) . I've been on the lookout for an s2k now for about 5 months . I would appreciate it if any of you could let me know if you are aware of one that is for sale in the area . I live in Marysville , OH .

My requirements are : 2006 or newer, less than 70k miles ( preferably around 40k miles ) , stock ( only mods I would be ok with are intake and radio ), clean title with no accidents . Please do let me know if you or someone you know has an s2k for sale .

Thank you for taking your time to read this.

Any feedback is appreciated .

I hope to find my s2k soon and join you guys in one of your meetups .

Thank you

Welcome to the board.
There are a few out there, but they go pretty quick. The price on them has also gone up over the past few years.
I'd check here

Take a look at AutoTrader, there were at least 6 this morning that meet your criteria. Maybe only 3 (?) this afternoon. All 2006 or 2007. They may be an hour or more from Columbus. They will go quicker and/or prices will incease if we get more weather like we had Easter weekend.

Put "autotrader S2000 Ohio" in your Google search box. When the site comes up set your car age limit to start at 2006 to avoid displaying the non-DBW cars.

Thank you Mocky and Chuck for your suggestions . I have actually been following the s2ki for sale thread as well as craigslist , autotrader and cars.com for a few months now . Unfortunately I've not been lucky enough yet. I was curious to hear your opinion on what is a fair price for an s2k that meets my requirements. I feel 15-20 k is fair depending on the condition of the vehicle . However I see some ads for high mileage ap1's listed for 25 k . Am I completely out of the ballpark ??

Based on my vast experience of one (1) car I'd be prepared to spend $22,000 for a MY06 or $23,000 for a MY07 with 50,000 or less miles and in nearly showroom condition. In whatever color you can find. Add or subtract $1000 for every 10,000 miles under or over 50,000. Just a rule of thumb but it seems to follow what it looks like the cars are selling for.

Make a priority list to develop a short list of cars. Mileage and condition are normally tied closely and "under 50K miles" was just under "2006 or later" and "showroom stock" on my list. Those are, frankly, expensive conditions. Raced, wrecked, and otherwise buggered cars were not considered.

Spring in Ohio is a sellers' market. Prices are always negotiable but buyers very tend to want the car more than the current owner wants/needs to sell it. Private sellers seem (to me) to overvalue their cars; dealers seem to overprice them and accept some degree less. Dealers have no emotional attachment to these cars. Cars is cars.

The prices appear to have been creeping up slightly the past two years since I purchased my MY06 with 38,000 miles on the clock for $20K. Car had new brakes (and the brake recall), was spotless and detailed inside and out, and was strictly stock other than aftermarket wheels (black) and needed tires. Wheels and half worn Dunlap tires went to a good home and a set of OEM AP2V2 wheels and RE-11A tires fitted within the first month.

Don't forget you have to pay sales tax and extreme performance summer tires will add to the cost as well.

You are right. Buyers wanting a car like yours are having to fork out closer to $25k now. It's nuts. A friend of mine in Columbus is in the market for an '04/'05 GPW/Tan Ap2 and he's struggling to find one. Not just the availability, but also with a similar criteria for what you listed above at a reasonable price. I have a standing offer from a member in Atlanta for my car at $35k. Every year, he asks if I'm ready to sell it. Every year, the answer is no.

For reference, I bought my basically stock 2006 Rio Yellow Pearl (49k miles) for 20k (before taxes) this past fall from a Craiglist seller here in Northeast Ohio. I probably overpaid slightly for it, but it was a Florida car, so it had absolutely no rust on it and was in great shape for the most part too.

I paid $20k for an 06 GPW 1 owner with 19k on the odometer back in 08. I sold it 2 years later with 45k on the odometer for $20k, I made a huge mistake.

I think for what your after your budget needs to be $20-23k

Over the weekend I had a look at an s2k. O8 model with around 30 k miles. The car is in very good - excellent condition. 23k is what I think I can get it for. Tax + new tires brings that to 25k.

Thinking over it right now.
