NHRA at Norwalk
I'm planning on attending my first NHRA event this weekend at Norwalk.
Have anyone here ever gone to this event? And, do you have any advice (travel route, seating location, food, tickets, traffic........)
I'm planning on driving in from NY (I-90) on Sunday morning and leaving right afterwards.
Are they cheaper tickets being sold outside of the track?
Thanks in advance.

Thelast13 (Chris) would know best since his company sponsors Norwalk. I haven't been to Norwalk in about 10 years (Nights Under Fire). I got the tickets off their website. The parking is usually a mess. Seating wise, I think it's preference. i liked being up front, closer to the start. The bleachers shake, and it's pretty intense. If you don't have ear plug, i'd highly recommend it. In fact, it's probably a must.
Oh, and if you are walking around the paddock, don't think it's cool to stand by the machines when they fire them up. Your eyes, throat and nose will burn

It's my hometown. Born and raised. Track and parking have been improved upon over the years. Just buy your tix from them directly. I don't believe there's a better deal anywhere. Unless you know someone from town that can get you free tix. That's how I usually get them. But being an out of towner, you're probably not going to find a better deal, unless someone here can hook you up.
Have fun!

Sorry , didn't see this until now. I haven't been to Norwalk since 1976. Hell haven't been to the drag races since 2003 , so my insight would have been next to none.

I'm a road race fan but I wanted to experience an NHRA event live and glad I did. Performance of the Nitro cars is nothing less than awesome. You can actually feel the vibration through your chest when these car roar by. Norwalk is a nice facility...clean, fan friendly, paddock access.......)
If I were to go back I would:
- Arrive early to avoid traffic
- Buy tickets in advance (to avoid 45 minutes in ticket line)
- Sun-screen. I got burnt.
- Bring better ear-plugs.
