Ohio Billman equivalent?

Obviously Billman is awesome. I'd love to have him look over the car and do his magic. I definitely need to do a valve adjustment, and might just do it myself. But is there someone trusted in Ohio? Anything closer than the 10 hour drive to Billman worth looking into?

I'm no Billman and will never compare myself to him but I do all of my work myself and have done a valve adjustment on my S2000. I'm in NW Ohio.

If you're near CIncy then use Source One - Brian and his team are awesome.

I'm pretty sure those are the guys that bought the shell I had. They seemed awesome and I might look into them.

Wife and I might be moving and I might be giving up the garage/hobby stuff, so I'm going to need to find a good place I trust for work/maintenance/builds. More focus on my business at that point, but I'm not completely sold. I don't think I'll be okay to stop wrenching.

I'll definitely talk to Sourceone and then some others I find in the sticky at the top.

Valve adjustment is dirt simple albeit tedious. No more complicated than changing the oil. Plenty of instructions here including videos. Total tool cost probably runs under $30 and a gasket set under $50.

It's not that I think myself incapable. I just really like the idea of Billman going over the car. He's like a mystical creature that will bless the motor....lol

Fully agree. :)

Got a few vacation days accrued? Figure on a 10 hour drive each way and a 2 or 3 nights in a hotel assuming you can get an appointment.

Too bad Billman isn't just like the rest of Long Island and will come down to S. FL for the winter......my garage is nice and warm!

I'll probably try to get with him and plan something for next summer. Do a little road trip with the wife and go up to Montreal for the GP, as long as the world is closer to "normal."

Closer to normal :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Back in the day we use to have mod/maintenance days. Myself and a few of us still on here would do this all the time. I still have my feeler gauges that I bent just for the S2000 valve adjustment.

If all goes as planned I'll have a VERY nice garage and property to do this at in the future if anyone is interested. AKA a shop space, and I plan on having like a drive through detail area as well. Not in stone yet, but were past the repair request on the sell side and at the inspection on the buy side.

What part of Ohio?

kreitz 12-17-2020 10:48 AM

I'll be right off of 70 near Springfield.

We're supposed to be closing Monday and Tuesday, so this may be a reality for spring/summer get togethers.

Now I just have to vet all you fools :)

kreitz 03-03-2021 03:09 PM

And we closed so I'll have the space for these if anyone is interested.

THANKS!!!!!

Still a work in progress. Old house so I've been tied up doing that in my free time. BUT next weekend I'm hoping to get a work party together to get the garage functioning.

Definitely would still like to meet any of you all or other car people that you may know. I miss happy hours man. I'll have a full fledged shop eventually. Right now mostly hand tools, and a 4 post lift. Engine hoist, jacks, etc. No tire machines yet. I do have a pressure washer and foam cannon for detailing and what not. It's getting there. If you didn't know I'm also a firearms/security instructor, home defense/automation and shooting skills. So I'll have a range at some point too. Good BBQ's and toys to play with. Friends always welcome!
