What do you guys think of the Stone guard type products??
Just wondering.............I saw it in someone's sig and was wondering what they thought. What does it cost and where to get it.

I've had this product on my S for over 18 months now. I've since put it on my wife's new PT Cruiser. I wouldn't own a new car without it. It has saved the front of my car front many rock hits. It's almost invisible from more than a few feet away. I've taken it off of other vehicles and it leaves no mark. You can't even tell where the stuff was applied.
I think "speed 2000", a board member is currently selling the S2000 kit for $250.00 (no install). Installed prices range from around $500.00 to well over a grand so shop around and "buyer beware". Very high markup on this product so there's a lot of leeway. It's also called Xpel, Clear Bra plus many other names but they all use the 3M Scotchcal film. |
i have seen other members that have set up group installs at shops re stoneguard and obtained a reasonable price, i think the install is somewhat challenging from what i have read.

Stongard is a great product for the panels of the car. The XPEL product is best for the headlight assemblies. This is the approach I took for my cars.
Email me and I'll put you in touch with a local installer. He is in Powell and does great work. I believe he has done approximately 25-30 vehicles and only accepts perfection. His product mark-up is minimal (still cheaper than any retail outlet I have had quote the two products). I am very pleased with the work he has done on my S2000 and S4. You are more than welcome to take a look at the two installs. |

I have this on my '02 and I would recommend it. Like xviper says, it is not noticeable until you get closer to the car. I did the nose of the car, the headlights and the mirrors.

Ziebart also does this. The 3M template was hard to match the botto part of the front bumper. They had to overlap thrm a bit. I was not real satisfied. I paid 245.00 installed. At least it protects the front from some rocks that have been flying off trucks on 71.
