Oklahoma Convoy to Spring BMT13

Link to the official Spring BMT13 thread in the Ark-La-Tex section.

For those who wish to caravan from the Tulsa area on Friday, April 5, let's meet at the Warehouse Market on Garnett just south of I-44 (click here for map) north end of the parking lot (opposite side of the grocery store) at 1:00 pm (leave by 1:30 pm).

Will fill in the exact meet/departure times later... open to suggestions on times and route to Harrison. See post #5 for some options.

4/3/2013 UPDATE: :shout:

The closest ethanol-free station from our meetup spot is about three miles away; it's a Phillips 66 on 31st just west of 129th. Actually, there's another one that's only two miles away but I've never filled up there before. It's called Cardinal's Corner and is on the southwest corner of 11th and 145th... in case anyone wants to try them out (let me know if you do please).

We'll take the long fun scenic route (Option A). This should put us in Eureka Springs around 5:30 pm at which time we can stop for an hour or so for dinner, and then be in Harrison well before dusk. We shouldn't have to worry too much about traffic as this route avoids Springdale altogether. :woot:

Sounds good to me. LMK when. Text me please. IDk if I will see this or not lol

JulieU 03-02-2013 09:48 AM

FWIW, there was a lot of construction along Hwy 412 in Arkansas when I was out there last weekend for the pre-drive, so I'd prefer if we leave earlier and take an alternate twisty scenic route.

matrigger 03-09-2013 04:18 AM

Count me in.

JulieU 03-17-2013 06:58 PM

Goals:  reach our destination after check-in but before sunset (so between 3pm and 7:30-ish) and not get stuck in Friday rush hour traffic in Springdale :argh:

Option A - Long Fun Scenic Route
From Tulsa, this takes about five hours (that does not include time spent for lunch/dinner in Eureka Springs). If we leave by 10am, that would put us in Eureka Springs for a late lunch around 2pm. Allow an hour or so for lunch, and that would put us in Harrison around 4pm. Or we could leave at 1pm, which would put us in Eureka Springs around 5pm, allow an hour or so for an early dinner, arrive in Harrison around 7pm.

Option B - Quick Straight Boring Route
Takes about three hours (that does not include time spent stopping to eat). Plenty of dining options along the way in Siloam Springs, Tontitown, and Springdale. We could leave as early as noon or as late as 3pm.

I also messed around with an Option C which was another long fun scenic route but it was six hours with very few dining options. However, I can post it if anyone is interested in seeing it. It's basically a more southern route through Tahlequah, Westville, and possibly Pig Trail.

JulieU 03-18-2013 07:33 PM

matrigger can't leave OKC until 10am at the earliest. That would put him in Tulsa around noon. Do we want to wait for him and take Option B?

demery 03-19-2013 06:00 AM

I would like to be a part of the caravan, it depends on what time everyone is leaving. I live in Muskogee, so I can possibly meet at a particular location near me along your route.

JulieU 03-19-2013 06:08 AM

Added you to the list, sir! :woot: Maybe you can fall in as we pass Hwy 69 on Hwy 412, or we can meet you at that gas station (Love's?). Weather forecast is looking crappy. :coat: Might be best to take Option B at this point.

demery 03-19-2013 08:27 AM

Sounds like a plan, I know exactly where that gas station is. I am debating on if I am going to have to take Friday off all together or leave early. Hmmmmm, it depends on when the departime time is.

J Schmidt 03-19-2013 12:39 PM

Hey JulieU. I am not going to caravan. I'll see/meet you all in AR!

engear2005 03-20-2013 02:58 AM

Demery: take friday off :) much better idea.

Julie:I am down for whatever option. I have the day off so my day is free. I do plan on sleeping in a little until like 830. I have been so busy last few weeks and need some sleep for the fun weekend. I agree if it is going to be nasty that will take some fun out of the long route. But would be nicer view than turnpike.

demery 03-20-2013 08:17 AM

Definitely taking that advice so that I can sleep in as well. LOL

Ch0pper 03-20-2013 10:22 AM

Just wanted you guys to be aware.
************ALERT************* Spring 2013 BMT may have to be rescheduled due to potential rain and snow on Saturday March 23. Stay tuned as I will make the final decision THURSDAY March 21. IF the precipitation chances are 50% or higher the BMT will be rescheduled to Saturday April 6. I don't want to reschedule but have to think of everyone's safety.
- Andy

engear2005 03-20-2013 05:15 PM

Let us know Andy. Safety is most important. I honesty am not looking forward if it is going to be really cold and nasty.

demery 03-21-2013 12:49 PM

Any news yet? I don't want to have any complications with my hotel reservation because the cancellation didn't come until the last minute. I am not sure how the Holiday Inn Express handles rescheduling.

JulieU 03-21-2013 12:52 PM

Yes, it's officially being postponed and will be held on Saturday, April 6. Please be sure to change your hotel reservation, if applicable.

Ch0pper 03-22-2013 04:20 AM

I see Julie informed you guys but just posting it here as well.

************ALERT************* Spring 2013 BMT will be rescheduled to Saturday April 6 . If you made Hotel reservations for March 22/23 please call so that they can change your reservations to April 5/6, I have verified with the Holiday Inn and they are aware and able to change the dates for us. Thanks in advance

Sorry guys, this is the second time ever in BMT history we've had to use the rain out date. Trust me though it's for the best. Jerome, called me this afternoon and it was snowing at his home which is only about 30 mins south of Harrison, AR. They are likely going to re-salt/sand the roads, and you all do not want to drive on that, i assure you, we've had to do it to our own cars on this pre-drive and a few others.

Don Miguel 04-02-2013 06:42 PM

Would meeting @ 1:30 be too late at warehouse mkt 4/5?

JulieU 04-02-2013 06:48 PM

I'm fine with 1:30... just waiting to see what the majority wants to do, although I'm not even sure who all is going at this point. Do you have a route preference?

DirtyBird 04-03-2013 05:12 AM

I burned my Friday, so I'm going to have to blaze 412 after work.

vbmarcus 04-03-2013 12:08 PM

So my vote is the later leave time (1:30 I think was suggested) with the scenic route. I would like to not take Kylie out of school too early to drive over if possible.

Please let me know what the consensus is and thanks!

Don Miguel 04-03-2013 12:56 PM

Scenic is fine. Dinner in Eureka sounds good. If need to miss 540 traffic, could take turnpike to AR then scenic.

JulieU 04-03-2013 06:20 PM

If you guys want, we can stop by the trout hatchery at Roaring River State Park. The route doesn't take us there but it would only add like eleven miles/eighteen minutes to the route. I'll leave it up to y'all.

vbmarcus 04-03-2013 07:48 PM

If Time Permits... I am game for the Hatchery. Always like that stop, and won't be able to make it there on the way back. Plus that drive just east of the Hatchery is AMAZING..... (amazingly) short too!

Don Miguel 04-04-2013 05:10 AM

Works for us. May be @ mkt after 1:00. Where's the meeting point location? I googled Warehouse , but no location off 44 E

demery 04-04-2013 05:13 AM

Where can I catch up with the caravan coming from Muskogee?

That Love's on Hwy 69 by Hwy 412. If we leave Tulsa at 1:30, we should be there by 2pm if there's no traffic.

demery 04-04-2013 10:32 AM

Love's it is. I will be there waiting. Thanks.

JulieU 04-04-2013 06:34 PM

Cool. I PM'd you my # on FB FYI.

I just realized that the Google map link to Option A route is not entirely accurate. I tried to fix it but am having some technical difficulties on the home PC combined with the fact that Google maps won't let me plot a route to the hotel coming in on Hwy 62 from the west end of town. :pullhair: I give up! :argh: So just don't look at it too closely. I won't get us lost, I promise!

One good thing about this route though... it takes us right by a place where we can get 93 octane with no ethanol!! :woot: It's half way between Eureka Springs and Harrison.

Don Miguel 04-05-2013 07:07 AM

Found it. 1245 S Garnett.
