Oklahoma Convoy to Spring BMT16

What is a BMT, you ask? Read all about it by following this link to the official Spring BMT16 thread in the Ark-La-Tex section.

For those who wish to caravan from the Tulsa area on Friday, April 1, let's meet for lunch at Sam & Ella's Chicken Palace (419 N Muskogee Ave, Tahlequah) at 10:30 a.m. (leave by 12:30 p.m.). Meet/departure times, location, and route are open to discussion.

Goals:  reach our destination after check-in but before sunset (so between 3pm and 7:30-ish) and not get stuck in Friday rush hour traffic in Springdale/Fayetteville/Rogers/Bentonville. :argh:

Option A (Turnpike Route) <-- click to see map
We could meet at the Fiesta Mart (Sinclair - has no ethanol premium fuel) at 81st & Hwy 169, take the Creek Turnpike east to the Muskogee Turnpike east to I-40 east. This is the quick (under 3 hours), boring, semi-bumpy (I-40) route.

Option B (non-Turnpike Route) <-- click to see map
Or we could meet for lunch at this neat pizza/sandwich place in Tahlequah (Sam & Ella's Chicken Palace) and then head east on Hwy 62 (one of my favorite Oklahoma roads) to Westville. Once we get to Fayetteville, depending on how much daylight we have left, we can either jump on I-49 south to I-40 east or continue east on Hwy 16 and hit up "the Big Three" (Hwy 23 a.k.a. "Pig Trail" south, Hwy 215 east, and Hwy 103 south) and then pick up I-40 east in Clarksville. The linked Google map shows the latter.

Option C (non-Turnpike Route alternative) <-- click to see map
This is much like Option B in that we meet for lunch in Tahlequah, but instead of interstate or the Big Three, we continue east on Hwy 16 to Hwy 21 south which also puts us in Clarksville. If we want to avoid the interstate altogether, we could continue east on Hwy 16 even farther and turn south on Hwy 7 instead. Hwy 7 runs right through Russellville.

Open to discussion and other options...

You know the roads Julie, I'll give my vote to you, for me the higher the curve count the better.

DirtyBird 03-10-2016 08:27 AM

Julie, will be there - either of the non turnpike routes. 12:30 and 1:00?

dirtys2000 03-25-2016 08:46 AM

I'm in! Any rite is fine with me, but I like curvy roads

4/1 Happy Hour and Clarion Lounge. 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Door prizes!!
If we want to make it in time for ^ this, we need to plan on being there before 5pm.

So I'm thinking an early lunch at Sam & Ella's (they open at 10am according to Google) and then leave Tahlequah by 12:30. That should put us in Russellville before 5pm regardless of which route we take.

Don Miguel 03-25-2016 11:34 AM

Count me in to caravan. Pizza brunch works for me. Car pool to Sam and Ella or meet there. Thanks for early departure to make social!

Are we meeting in Tahlequah or meeting before?
