.................................................. Gorge/Bonneville warm up drive SATURDAY, April 27th – 2 Driving Hours & 90 Miles
Welcome to the first drive of the year! This drive will have us taking a short route through the early areas of the gorge along Hwy 14 and a few choice back roads to stretch our legs and warm up for the drives to come! It will be a leisurely start, with a stop a the Bonneville Fish Hatchery, before heading to Cascade Locks for lunch after which a quick detour on the (now open) historic highway before everyone breaks off on their way home.
It's a short one, so you'll be home with plenty of time for supper!
We will make our departure from east Portland before heading across the river.
We will make our way down the Gorge with a detour at Washougal until we cross into Oregon at the Bridge of the Gods.
Once over, we will zip down I84 to Bonneville Fish Hatchery to take a short look around before lunch.
After which our route will backtrack to Cascade Locks for a nice lunch.
To make the most of the drive home, we'll explore the Historic Highway past Multnomah Falls and Crown Point to the Gorge overlook.
It'll give us a chance to see how nature is recovering from the terrible fire.
Once we arrive back at I84 in Troutdale, the drive will officially end to allow people to head home whichever way suits them best.
