What tires do you guys use?
Mods: Please do not move to "Tires and Wheels" - I want to know specifically what tires people in the Portland area are using because of the "different" weather there.
Do you guys use a summer tire year round? An all season year round (ick)? Or switch between a summer and winter tire?

I use the same tires throughout the year (mostly because I cant afford to do otherwise
). I actually just bought new tires about a week ago and I went with the BF Goodrich g-force t/a kdw2. They were rated very highly on the tire racks web site for wet and dry traction. So far, I really like them, but I havn't done too much "testing" with them

I'm still on the stock re050's as I only have 4600 miles total on my car...
I may be psycho but I drove this car in the snow that we had a couple months ago without any traction devices. It was hella fun.
In the rain I have no problems with the stock tires, but then again I have a penchant for driving sideways anyways so I generally know what to do when my traction goes nill
When I need tires, I was thinking about going to the BF Goodrich g-force t/a kdw2's as Gavin did... but still undecided. Gavin when you've had more time to "test" them out, you'll have to give me your feedback on them...

We get similar weather up here in Vancouver, BC.
I'm running Kumho MX all year round. I am happy with them in the rain, but not in the dry. They're way too noisy (road noise) for my liking. They also warn you much quicker than the S02 at the limit.

I love the BFG kdw's tread pattern and i think they are the best tire on the market ( or atleast thats what all the ratings say) wish i had them
i am running Hankook's and seem to have no problems and they are not super noisy on the road. i dig em for the $$$

You can get by with "summer" tires year around in Portland. Yeah, it rains off and on all year, but we only rarely get ice or snow.
The worst you will normally face is just wet pavements.

I have been driving on a set of Dunlop M3's all winter because I like having a softer cold weather compound with factory spec siping under me for the wet months. They will be coming off next weekend and I will go back to what's left of my RE050's. On the one hand the RE050's only have 6000 miles on them, but on the other hand that also includes 10 track days
Thanks for all the responses - it gave me a good idea of what to look for in a tire. I decided to go with the Potenza RE750 because it's cheaper than S02's or 03's, has longer tread life, and better wet handling than the S02 (though not as good as the S03, apparently), and it's supposed to be a bit more comfortable (probably becasue of a less rigid side wall). Thanks, again.
