Default Winter Detail Day 09

A small but dedicated turnout today. My pics will have to wait (no cable for my phone here) but others will post I'm sure.

All the people who took part in the detailing got to get their cars nice and shiny (except Garret who washed his car before coming to wash his car again).
We got Huy, Amy, Garret (kind of), and myself generally cleaned and waxed. Marc stopped by for a quick cleaning and Ira and Eric both came by to visit. Garret and I were also able to shame Ira into cleaning his engine bay.

Garret and I tackled Jason's car to remove the worst of the swirls he suffered from (Berlina Syndrome). Pics will follow that show some pretty dramatic changes for Jason's beauty.

Be sure to stay tuned for next spring for the BIG detail day to get your cars cleaned up for the driving season.

Thank you to Amy for hosting this event at her house. Also thank you to Aaron for planning this event. The group of cars to show up was small, but good.

Here are my pics. Sorry for the quality I was using my cheap P&S.

We did a lot of underhood cleaning this time - we missed some of the before pictures, but many of us needed to get the underhood cleaned.

Marc's dirty Engine bay - we determined his engine bay get dirtied becuase he is SCed and drives faster.

Marc drying under the hood after cleaning.

Finished Product.

Aaron cleaning his interior.

Amy cleaning the wheels.

Stella's heart.

Ira working on the Smurmobile.

New filter media - we feel that this will do a much better job of filtering dust.

Huy waxing his baby

As most people know black cars are some of the best looking when they are clean, and also know they are very hard to keep clean. It is even harder to keep them scratch free. We takled a BB with a good bit of swirl marks on it. Here are some pictures of the progression.

Before pics - notice the swirl marks.

Jason learning about polishing.

Tapped off for a before and after shot.

After

After shot - right side is before and left is after - look at the "W" reflection

After pic - closest is before and far side is after polish

Jason's car after wash, polish, and wax.

Jason leaving - very slowly, scared to stir up too much dust.

Nice pics everyone. THANKS AMY! And Aaron and Garret for the push to clean the engine bay.

The only downside was the fumes. Man...without letting it dry, and driving to Seattle, my cabin seemed to suck in the fumes Lol
