Calabogie Pre-Opening Day Pictures

Luc (the guy organizing our lapping event next week at CMP) had an extra pass for the VIP / Pre-Opening track day at Calabogie.... so, I couldn't say no. I took the day off (it was on that great warm Wednesday we just had).

What a fantastic facility. Everything is nicely paved, huge paved paddock, nice wide track. There are a lot of interesting and challenging turns on this track, and a lot of up and down (and blind corners in places, too). It is awesome.

Click here for the full trip report with lots of pictures

I don't think I've ever been in the company of so many ultra-expensive cars. TWO Gallardos and TWO Carrera GTs???? Amazing.

So, anyone else interested in joining us next week?

I would like to try some tracking at some time but I have to be in Edmonton!

How have you been there Andrew! Long time no see!

Oh, I've been around - doing a lot of outdoorsy mountains type stuff. I still take the S2k into the Adirondacks and Appalachians when I can, though, and usually combined with some mountain hike.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures.

Great pics! Looks, and sounds like you had a blast.

Which config did you run? How was it for speed? More than Shannonville type? Did it look like there was enough run off...some places looks kinda tight to the wall. Not that I'm planning to go there ;) Just looking out for Martin and his shiny Z06

And it was John that kicked me off last Sunday.....

We ran the full track. There is pretty good runoff in most places - the barriers in the turns are not right up to the edge of the track or anything like that. To tell you the truth, I was focusing more on the track itself than the runoff area. It isn't all open grass like Shannonville, of course - so if you go off fast enough you might be into some tires.

On the higher speed parts of the track, the speeds are as high or higher than the back straight at Shannonville.

What... you aren't coming next Thursday??? I was under the impression (from Luc) that you were... damn. Must Luke and I be the only s2000 representatives?

I'm definitely coming Thursday. Going again on the weekend before ending the driving season. Not planning on finding how slick the grass is to the wall.
