I'm not sure about who is good for top r&r. I feel like someone else was asking recently but I cant remember if it was here or FB.
greetings,
i got my clutch done at main street auto in Monroe and that is the most pleasant experience i've ever had with an independent shop, motorcycles or auto. Thank you for that lead!!!
they did go above and beyond. My stock air box had a bolt that was broke , snapped. I was not really worried bout it since there was another 3 Philips head screws holding it in place, it could wait for later. they fixed it the snapped bolt and replaced all the screws with the right fasteners. not just that. i had missing clips and fasteners underneath holding the plastics in place they replace the clips and the bolts. WHO does this? ANYMORE? NOWADAYS ???!!!
OH? the clutch job? well, i might be OCD but i bought every part needed for the job i went with the AP1 flywheel just because this is what the most suggest for the AP2 so i got swayed by this everything else was OEM. i replaced all the bolts/fasteners that was needed in there all the seals the slide the fork, even the grease EVERYTHING the rubber boot that protects the slave and the boot around the shifter wait, those were outside...the donut for the exhaust the manifold gasket and spring nuts. even the drive shaft bolts!!! i know those where outside too.
by the way they will not install your parts if its not OEM. Steve called me the day i dropped off the car/parts. he said the flywheel was wrong the part did not match my VIN he said Honda sold me the wrong part. i intentionally didn't tell him about it. this told me how LEGIT this out fit is. I explained to him that i researched this and it is widely done , he was hesitant but i told him that this is on me 100%. he researched it too that the weight is different and was direct bolt on.
the clutch was so smooth I was shocked i grew up driving standard i learned on cable operated system. this was exceptional.
all my vehicles are hondas truck suv and civic. i know now where they are getting the care they need. I HIGHLY recommend this outfit.
APEX HUNTER THANK YOU

Hey, thanks for the follow up and I’m stoked you had a good experience. I do appreciate that they mandate Genuine parts and are careful about every step. They really run an awesome operation over there!

I sold it last October. It was my 3rd and favorite s2k. It had to go to make room for something….different. After 23 years of all Japanese I wanted to learn something new as a mechanic and a car nerd.

I just picked up a 2019 530ix for a good price. I am coming from owning many BMWs over the years. They have their issues but they are awesome as well. Nice pickup.

Nice, so g30 then? They look great.

This was my first. It became obvious that they have a different philosophy when it comes to design and engineering. Sometimes it’s really cool and sometimes it’s a pain in the ass and I miss the simplicity of Japanese cars. But overall I really like the change of pace.
I actually like the m3 so much I sold my eco-modded 2002 Insight so I could experience the classic formula guilt free- i found an e90 328i with the n52, 6mt, and rwd. Had to iron out a few kinks but been averaging 32 mpg on my mostly hwy commute.
