stripped bolts on the spark plug cover
 

so some of you may know that i've been having a ignition coil pack / misfire / engine-bog problem with my car,.... well i finally got a used coil pack too replace that cylinder but i now ran into a new problem. i was removing my spark plug / ignition coil pack cover like i usually do and 2 of the bolts came right out but the other 2 are stripped. what do i do 2 get them out so i can change my coils?........ i went 2 honda and they said they would charge 120+ tax too pull them out! i was like DAMMMMMMM!!!!. they said they have to drill and use a special drill bit to reverse pull out the rest of the studs...... is there any other way to get them out that would be way cheaper? i was using a metric 5mm hex key and 2 of the bolts are completely striped inside

the weakkk part is that i have removed this cover PLENTY of times, so its kinda retarded on how tight it was on.

You could probably buy a drill and the bit yourself for less than $120.

But having the reverse pull out bit is the only way I know of removing stripped bolts. Maybe someone else will have some other ideas.

go to home depot and buy a reverse drill/bolt remover kit. probably about 20 bucks. it is very easy to do. all you need is a drill and a wrench.

I agree, just do it yourself, they are called "easy outs". Then put anti seize on the next bolts you use. These like to stick from the heat and Aluminum expanding/contracting, I’ve had issues with these particular Allen bolts myself.

easy out is the way to go. done it a bunch of times, real easy

This might be a great time to remind everyone that there is absolutely zero need to torque the bolts in question down.

alright i guess ima go n buy a set. how deep should i drill? n thanks for evry1's inputs

There may be enough depth to grab a hold without drilling. Try one of the easy outs without drilling first.

I'm assuming it's the head that strippe right? Another option is to use a dremel tool to cut a notch in the head that will fit a flat head screwdriver. Then just use the screw driver to turn it out.

fixed and pulled the studs. i just used a sock and the 5mm hex bolt hammered it in lol. cave man style hahaha then it came right out. replaced my coil pack now it runs smooth n strong again =)
