Beginner here: Sony A6000
 

I'm new to photography. The extent of my camera knowledge is to point and shoot using my phone then using IG to edit the pictures lol. I know this part of the forums have been dead for a while but lately I've finally got around in trying to figure out how to use my Sony A6000 mirrorless camera and wanted some feedback so I can improve upon my novice photography skills. Basically I want clearer, more crisper photos. Adrs2k gave me some pointers on how to set up the camera so here I am. These pictures were taken with the ISO set really low around 100-200 with lighting adjusted for using aperture settings to "zero" out the light level. These are all raw images, no edit. Also I don't have a tripod yet so these photos were all taken with the camera on the floor. To me, these photos came out pretty good. Again, there wasn't a lot of effort put into these sample photos but they were taken with the settings set to more ideal levels. The photos look pretty clear to me and there's a lot of definition. With the proper lighting and setting, I think shooting the s2k with these settings and a tripod should yield pretty good pictures don't you think? Also I apologize in advance that these are pictures of my dog and non-s2k related.

I wouldn't worry so much about the tripod, you can take a perfectly clear photo freehand, image stabilization in modern cameras is wild.

What lens do you have? What settings are you using?

I'm an actively bad photographer & I took these with my friend's A6000, 50mm lens, f/1.8, no edit, no tripod, etc.

Play with the camera/settings & find what translates to stuff you like, I just use a ten year old Canon Rebel XS with a 50mm 1.8 lens & its....perfectly fine. I'm still learning as well, but yeah, you'll get it sorted.

Nice, yea i dont even know the camera lingo 100% yet. I believe its shutterspeed? Theres one setting i need to play with more to find out how to set it so i can point and shoot and get clear pics like that without needing to hold the camera so steady for so long. Im also using the stock 50mm lens that came with the camera

Cute dog! :heart: The settings you will need to use on your car will likely be different because of the amount of light available outdoors versus the indoor lighting with your pup. If there's more light available outside, you should be able to increase your shutter speed and not have to worry as much about image stabilization.
