Canon L Lens bayonet mounts possible issue

I'm not sure how many lenses this affects, but it's certainly something to keep an eye on with the 24-105 IS L.

On my other lenses (400mmL, Sigma 105mm, Canon 50mm) that protrusion below the blade is just a "blob" of metal. On this lens, however, it's a screw. No idea why. A couple of weekends ago, the lens was a bit stiffer than usual to mount and then wouldn't mount at all.

I was a tad worried as you can imagine, but some comparison with the other lenses revealed that the screw was further out than it should be. It should be as far "out" as the blade above it. Somehow it had worked itself loose.

Thankfully a jewellery screwdriver was enough to do it up and it mounted smoothly again but I've since heard tales of them coming off and into bodies
