Thumbs up Canon service centers - can we just walk in ?

Can we just waltz into these centers as we please, without having to ship? This way, I won't have to worry about shipping damage and can save at least a couple of days that would be spent in transit, as the NJ facility is not too far from me (there are only 2 in the country that service digital EOS, the other being in CA).

I guess at the minimum, you would need the items to be repaired (obviously) and proof of purchase for warranty coverage? Probably don't need the original boxes with the original styrofoam (which I have saved) since once the equipment is in the facility, they'll know how to handle them properly.

My T2i + 50 1.4 has front focus issues. My T2i + 17-55 2.8 has front focus issues as well, but not to the same degree. Will give them all three, since I'm not sure exactly which is/are the culprit.

Thanks. Pick it up as in after a few hours or a few days later? I guess we'll see.

Same waiting time as if you mailed it in a few days if they have the parts you need longe rif they do not.

I just got back from the one in Jamesburg, NJ. Apparently, they do not work on the T2i (or any of the xxxD series) anymore and instead ship it out to their VA location. I probably won't have my T2i, 17-55 2.8, and 50 1.4 back until sometime next week.

So you dropped it off at canon and they shipped it out or did you have to ship it out to VA?

Well, they are both Canon. I dropped it off at the Jamesburg, NJ location and they said they would take care of everything. They will ship my 3 items to their VA location and VA will ship them back to me directly probably next week.

Okay, so at least you saved yourself some shipping costs
Good to know since I'm only about 40 minutes from the one in Irvine, CA.

Didn't really do it to save money, as I had to pay bridge tolls and use up gas. Just thought it would be cool to take a drive and see Canon's facility. Yea definitely drive over there with your stuff, this way you can explain things better and possibly even talk to the guy working on your gear.
