Hello Everyone,

Haven't posted here in awhile. Taking a lighting class and wanted to get some feedback on how I can improve. Let me know what you all think.

For this particular shoot, we just had a 580EX II shot through an Westcott Apollo 28" softbox.

Looks good, but you need a reflector on the other side to bounce some of it back....or have a dedicated hairlight.

I agree with the hot elbow and shadow on the nose (biggest problem)...but a reflector will help that out.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Now that you mention it, I do see the hotspot on her elbow. I agree, a fill light or reflector would have been nice to fill in the shadow areas.

Here's another picture from the same session:

As Dave said, you need a reflector or another light.

I feel like you softened her a little too much.

You definitely need more light. I would say at least 2 lighting from the back. It would get rid of the shadows plus help the model stand out from the background. Make her "pop" instead of blending in. And like Muz mentioned, try not to light the elbows so much.

Thanks for the feedback. Skin softening toned down and hot spot on the elbow fixed in post. I concur about the 2nd light and/or reflector to help lift the shadows. Going to give that a go on the next assignment. Great feedback guys. Appreciate it. Always good to have a 2nd pair of eyes look so that I can improve.
