Lunar Eclipse?
Well the Eastern Region is having a full Lunar Eclipse on Saturday March 3, 2007.
What would be the best way to take some cool photos of this? All opinions are welcome. I do have a telescope and a T mount Adapter for my Canon DSLR but my telescope isn't working. What would be the next best thing besides an airplane ride? ;) |
So all you photography buffs on here don't have any clues?
|
Well, I don't... we had a Lunar eclipse a couple years ago and I attempted to shoot it with a 75-300 on a 50-year-old tripod. The result wasn't clear at all.

You can still get nice shots at 200 or 300mm if you have a telephoto lens.
Just remember shooting the moon is like shooting the sun, it's very bright so shutter speeds won't have to be slow. If you shoot around f/8, 1/250, iso 400-800 you can handhold the shot. If you shoot at lower iso, you may need a tripod depending on what settings you go with. |
Bill, it's happening in 10 minutes for us. I think there's going to be too much sunlight this time around anyway. :(
|
I heard that you'll see red moon. anyone care to capture it?
|
I only have 24-70mm. :banghead: I'll try but no promises. :)
|
I've taken a few at 200m, so dark though it couldn't auto focus and very hard to see through viewfinder. I'll post some up in a bit but there a bit blurry :(
|
There is a fantastic red hazy moon now, very eerie indeed.
Pics didn't come out at all though :( |
There are a few pics here that one of the UK guys took. . .
