Default Need one final gun in my arsenal

Well then, I almost have my full PERMANENT photographic arsenal. I have everything one could want as a photographer, but I need ONE final piece of glass....one for UBER bokeh.

I have my eye on the 85 1.2....can anyone advise pro/con something else?

In case you want to know, here is my lens/body rundown.

1DsIII
30D

Canon 50mm 1.4
Canon 16-35mm 2.8
Canon 24-70mm 2.8
Canon 70-200mm 2.8IS
Sigma 150mm Macro

Sigma 10-20mm (for the 30D)
Tamron 17-50mm (for the 30D)

+ A heap of other crap.

So, what say you? Jump on the 85mm or what?

*Edit*
Any thoughts on the Zeiss 85mm 1.4 vs the Canon 85mm 1.2?

It really depends on what you're going to shoot with it, a lot of guys are picking up the 135L instead of the 85L, but it's more of a head-shot lens (not totally, but you know what I mean).

I don't think I could part with my 85, but one day the 135 will take my 200mm duties, as it's a much smaller size, and much easier to work with.

Actually you need both the 85 1.2 and the 135 2.0 you shoot both full frame and crop as I do. While were on the subject the 1.2 is all you need for uber bokeh. I had the 50 1:1 for a while and its nuts bokeh wide open is almost as thin as a blade of grass.

Another Vote for the 85L for full frame. Its an amazing lens. I don't even care how slow it focuses. Its so damn sharp...even wide open. And if bokeh is what you are after, there are very few lens that does it better...maybe 200 F2 or 135 F2.

Edit:
As for the Zeiss glass, haven't read too many reviews about the 85 1.4. Every time I hear about Zeiss glass on POTN, it's always the Distagons (21, 35) or the Makro Planars (50mm and 100mm) that gets the highest praise.

I have the 100 f2 zeiss.

Would have to pry it off my dead hands before I'd let it go, and I chose this over the 85 1.4 (nikon) which is no slouch.

Can't go wrong with a zeiss.

Hmmm I would love to try out some Zeiss glass. Gotta see where I can go to play with some of them. I know the 85 1.2 is the benchmark though.

Nevermind on the Zeiss. No AF is not gonna work for me.

I use zeiss for home, or putzing around. Have the 85, 28, and 135. They're good and fun, with excellent color, but no autofocus is the deal breaker for me. I can't/won't use them in any paid environment because of it.

The 85, well that's used mainly if you shoot portraits. Even on that FF, it's still prety long.
I'd dump that 16-35 and get a 35L 1.4 =)
actually, since I've decided to use little to no flash (cept for group shots), the 35 and 85 are the ones I go to for low light.

I had the pleasure of borrowing a 85 1.2, the only 2 negatives I could think of is 1. the price, and 2. if I had one my others lenses would get used much less.

I really don't think you can go wrong with it.

It looks like the 85 will do your line up good. Perhaps add a 135 to that too
