And does it write it into the exif? If so !! I've got a really old garmin handheld (from mtb'ing) laying around.. gonna check this out!

I believe so, if your Garmin unit conforms to version 2.01 or later of the National Marine Electronics Association NMEA0183 protocol, it can be connected to the camera's 10 pin remote terminal using an MC-35GPS adapter or DIY one yourself. http://www.core5.net/projects/d200GPS/index.html

The most important of all, do you have a D2Xs, D2Hs or a D200? IIRC, only those cameras support the GPS function.
