Default Some Sunday photos - birds, landscape, etc.

Twice a year Mackay Island Wildlife Reserve is opened up for driving through. Without advertising, they opened it up last weekend. This part of the island is probably the most protected reserve in Virginia (that I know of) and is a rarity to see without planning a whole week day around it.

All shot with Canon 1DMKII + 300mm f2.8L IS + 1.4x TC.....minor cropping.

It looks like the guy on the right is trying to pee on the other turtle's head

I was testing out a new filter on 89th street (last public street before hitting Fort Story and the Chesapeake Bay) before a storm was coming in. These have been heavily photoshopped, and I'm not sure how much I like them

I need to tweak the sky a bit more and lighten the walkway some.

I love the feel of the chopped ones, but you know me.

The bird in the second photo from the top looks retarted.

#3 of the unchopped looks like an old korean painting we used to have.

#1 of the chopped is pretty nice, really like the contrast between the blue of the deck versus the water. If you can get the sky more uniform I think you'd have a winner here.

Lovely shots as always!

#3 - the BIF (Bird In Flight)? I lucked out on that one. Those guys were very skittish. I had to inch the car up to them at about 1/2 a MPH, and anytime I got out of the car they took off fast. It was tough getting that close.

I'm going to play with the sky a little more. I actually HDR'd that picture and the sky ended up getting a little funky, so I put a few filters on it to try to fix it. That didn't turn out too well.

Thanks
