I still know nothing about layers (I never got it to work from the other thread and I got frustrated and tired of asking). All of those images above have gone through the lomo process, but I change up a few things during the process and after.

I don't want to copy Clyde or his style. He can still kick my ass from an artistic and processing standpoint. I'm just trying to fiddle with what I know about photoshop, and the lomo action makes PP a little bit easier for me.

MsPerky,
Yep... same tree.

GND?
Nope. I under expose to get the sky color, then bring up the foreground with levels or shadows, then drop the highlights a tad.

is lomoing what gives some of the photos that grainy oversharpened look? especially #4 and #6. can't say im a fan of those two. i did enjoy several of the others however. i'm just trying to figure out what that oversharpened look is a result of and why people seem to like it? ive found the same effect on several pictures on flickr and really think it ruins the picture but the comments on those all seem very positive.

Here is an example of over-sharpening, over-saturating, and over-contrasting:

I stack layers and varying filters to achieve the effect - I kind of discovered it by accident the other day, and it somewhat has a lomoish feel to it.

Wow, Alex, that is really cool!

Are you finding that it works best with shots that have a lot of color and/or bright colors? Or is it that the effect results in bright colors?

I am definitely going to give this one a try. I really like the results.

Even though I don't like that photo, I do like the effect. It doesn't work on everything. Insects and reptiles are good. I haven't tried a car yet. I'm certain it will make a person or mammal look funny. I bet it would be cool on some landscape stuff too.

I've got some new equipment to play with this weekend, so expect more next week

Just for the sake of curiosity, could you post the "strait from the camera" version of the fly?
