Testing out a new camera body and portrait lens at a shoot this weekend. Time to find out what the hype is all about with this Nikon "flagship" body.

Ugh. If you bring that to the dragon, I want to check it out.

Consignment.. not mine I can't justify a D4s. Client has a list of shots that require both high speed and low light applications. Figured this would be as good a time as ever to try the D4s. I won't shoot the 85 for those shots though. Lens is too slow. I'm a bit concerned with how the 85 will do on a D810. The DOF is so narrow that even the slightest movement is going to make the shot blurry, especially on a 30+mpxl body. I have a day to practice, and a day to shoot so I'll sort it out body and lens combinations tomorrow. Shoot is on Saturday.

btw, I stopped shooting photos at the Dragon so if anything, I'll bring my little Sony RX100 and shoot with that. For 90% of the shots there, it'll be more than enough.

I still think a slow lens can be overcome with practice and skill. What are you shooting?

Can I ask why you don't take photos at the dragon anymore?

So I've been playing with the 85mm 1.4. I took a shot of a water bottle and at first glance, the picture is incredible. Having said that, as I zoom in, the water bottle logo is blurry which is disappointing. I'll try a few shots next week with the 810 and 85 on a tripod.

I'm shooting a wedding for a private client who has some very specific requests, and a budget to allow for it.

Shooting at the dragon is something I stopped doing since I would rather hang out with people I don't get to see as well as meet new people. Killboy (as do some of the other shooters) do an amazing job shooting so I have no interest hanging out on the side of a road. I'd rather have a beer at the cabin with friends

I know how you feel. I have taken my camera with me every time and very rarely used it.
