Default Alberta Formula 1 talk - 2013

Only a few days away, who is excited?

I will be going for Grosjean and Kimi, but a sentimental cheer for Jenson as always.

A few of us are going to get together Sat night at a pub downtown for the LIVE 1st round if anyone is interested. I will post more details as they become available.

In my Facebook profile (which I rarely use anymore), I list "Formula 1" as my religion...

Kimi's my favourite driver, has been for years, ever since Hakkinen retired. I cheer for Webber and Vettel too. My lovely wife gave me a Red Bull Racing jacket for my birthday last year, so I look like a team member with all the sponsor logos everywhere.

Mercedes always gives me mixed feelings. Well, they did at first, when Schumacher came back in 2010. For years I wanted his Ferrari engine to explode, and it only ever happened once (Suzuka 06) but then, because I have a Mercedes, I feel obligated to cheer them on. But they had Schumi. Then my heart softened and I wanted him to do well. I like Rosberg though. But I don't really like Hamilton. Hence the mixed feelings again.

Word is that Honda will be back as an engine supplier in 2015, with McLaren. Autosport says that Honda's been developing their new F1 engine for at least eight months now apparently. So maybe even they'll be on the grid next year? Exciting times ahead.

I don't mind the late night races, at least we get to watch them live. I stay up with a Red Bull. Beats getting up at 6:00am for the European races.

Well that was a ridiculous round 2....

Curious to see what the fallout will be like at Red Bull, if any.

Hamilton's pitstop was one for the ages.

Vettel should do the right thing, and give up a win to Webber when they are running 1-2 next time out, notwithstanding any potential negative effects it may have to his own driver's championship chances.

Flew into Toronto to meet friends, took VIA to Montreal, had a blast with the 'trio' pack where we got to sit at 22, 31 and 33.

Weather was meh which put a damper on post day parties a little, but we found more than enough celebration each night along with some incredible food.

Joe Beef was sensational, Garde Manger always a favourite of mine.

Enjoy

Cool. So different seating areas for each day? What was the approximate cost of that ticket?

Is Jacques' restaurant still there in Montreal? Did you get to Schwartz's or any La Belle Province location? The only place that I think does Montreal smoked meat justice outside of Montreal is La Belle Patate in Canmore, although I think they have a location in Victoria or Vancouver too.
