Just out of curiosity, I checked out the ALMS calendar and the lengths of the various tracks on which that series races:

Laguna Seca - 3.6km
Sebring - 5.95km
Long Beach - 3.17km
Lime Rock - 2.46km
Mosport - 4.0km
Mid-Ohio - 3.86km
Elkhart Lake - 6.4km
Road Atlanta - 4.0km

There's also a new event this year on the Baltimore waterfront, but I couldn't find a track length. Can't imagine it would be really lengthy though.

So the full Castrol Raceway road course would be one of the shorter tracks if ALMS or Indycars ever visit. Probably would need to build some more grandstands though... I see in the news today that a Vancouver firm has been hired to head up the residential redevelopment of the old Muni, so the paving of Castrol comes at a good time...

I was at the Rocky Mountain Nationals this past weekend. Dad saw the course and said they'll only be paving the SHORT course this year. The long course will be done by 2013. So, turns 7 thru 11 would not be part of the paving for this year and the track will close the loop at turns 6 and 12, as I understand it.

Hey that's good news!!! I seriously thought that it would never happen.

Time to start to think more seriously about that K swap Civic track beater project....
