We bought a house and moved just a couple weeks ago, so I've been rather busy. Haven't driven the S2000 much either, just parked it into my new double overzied garage (22 x 28!), which is sweet. Have all my tools in one place now, and no interlopers (read, my Dad) mucking around with them any more! Previously, lived in a condo and had all my tools at the 'rents place still.
Picked up a barely used soft top from an '06, so I'll be doing the glass rear window swap in the spring I think. Also picked up for cheap a used Fidanza aluminum flywheel. Not sure when I want to get that into the car though...need to buy a clutch kit (probably go with OE) and maybe get an AP2 tranny to go with it.
Last summer's experience with driving around on the 4.57s and 4.44s made me desire something in between. The 4.57s are awesome in the lower gears, but for freeway and highway cruising a bit too extreme. The 4.44s are not as 'hot' as the 4.57s, but cruising in top gear is tolerable. I think the combination of an AP2 transmission gearing with 4.44s will be 'just right'. But first I need my current 4.44s to not whine any more, as it drove me completely bonkers all summer. My installer is a trusted friend and mechanic, but just couldn't get the sound to disappear. Contemplating sending it down to PuddyMod, THE guy for S2000 rear ends, in Florida. Too bad the dollar has taken a sh*t though. Boo.
On another note, moving my cars to my new house made me miss my old modified turbo Saab (see my sig for more). I think I'm going to keep it now, was contemplating selling it, but a bit difficult to move a 20 year old car, let a lone a heavily modified one. My current thinking is to keep it and drive it in 'intermediate' weather, ie. when it's too chilly for the S2000, but still not too snowy. So that would mean like October/November and February/March/early April. The Volvo wagon is a champ in the snow, but it. Is. So. Boring. To. Drive
But it'll mean either buying 17" winter tires, or maybe all seasons, something mild, or unloading my Wilwood big brake kit and going back to stock Saab 16" wheels. Decisions decisions. I think I'll put a smaller turbine housing on it too, to help spool it up a bit quicker. Needs a windshield too. And I think I'll paint it flat black, so I've been researching VWVortex for threads on that. Any tips? I hear John Deere 'Blitz Black' is the rattle can of choice.
That's my contribution to the forums!
