Default Just a little Rant on car sale experience

So, as you know I've been trying to sell the S2000, (still trying to sell it), I reduced the price to $23,500, which I think is quite fair and actually a little on the cheap side cause winter is here and it's pretty hard to sell. The thing that bothers me most about this experience is people calling with outrageous offers and they haven't even seen the car yet. I just got a call today from some rude ass mofo asking for 20g's when he hasn't even seen the damn thing! I got calls from people saying "what's the lowest you can go cause I can only afford [$x amount]" Well 1)if they're interested, look at the car before making an offer. Would you put down a large lump sum on something you haven't seen? 2) what makes them think I'm going to commit to a price for someone that I don't even know is truly interested? 3) if they got [x amount] and I say no, it's clear they can't afford it, so stop trying to negotiate cause it's a waste of time. Hate the cocky ass low-ballers. I mean if they are serious then LOOK AT THE CAR, THEN TALK! Anyways, that's my rant.

haha yeah it sucks... ive gotten 18-19k
hahaha
even with my mods.....haha...
i just say no...
but u know what i think some guy said that you are selling for about 21k and i should go lower to about 18-19k... haha...
low ballers suck..... it seems like the guys that keep lowballing keep trying...
the guys that keep calling me back have been looking for months and actually never get it...
they keep giving me the " i can go to the states and get one for x amount"
well then go to the states then!

but u also have to realize u they sell for about 17k usd... but then u have to pay shipping 1600cad ... or drive it yourself... go through the whole importing process.....
but yeah that is all... it does suck

Tell them to piss off and not to waste your time.
Set a firm/fair price and stick to it. If someone is really interested they will know that it is a fair price for the car. If not, wish them luck in finding what they want for the $ they want to spend.

That's really frustrating... The car is a steal for 23,500. I put the bulk of the mileage on that thing and its in great condition.

About the only thing I can think of that might hurt your chance of selling it is the dvd player you put in there... but that should be pretty minor

I had a rough time selling my BMW 540i a couple of months ago. People try to intentionally lowball and make you feel like you have overpriced your car. I had one guy really try and squeeze me and I basically told him to buy a 3 series and leave me alone. I also had another person who came and drove vehicle, really liked it but decided to play the waiting game by calling me once a week to see if it was still available. I kept stringing him along until a week ago when I finally told him that I sold it a few months ago.

Just play the game...

Reminds me of what happened to me in the summer. I'd been trying to sell my '02 MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works package for a little while. Finally some guy came to look at it, drove it for about 10 minutes, made an offer, shook hands. Said we'd meet up the next week to deliver the car, he just had to find financing. I talk to him during the week, all's good, then on the day of the delivery, he doesn't show up! Phone won't pick up either! What a pain.

As an aside...the car was advertised on 780tuners and beyond.ca. Xviper also expressed interest at one point, and he pointed me to s2ki.com

Small-ish world!

Yeah, a little frustrating. I'm going to wait this one out until spring. I've had many people ask me to reduce the price and take the DVD out. The DVD is a bonus for what I priced it at. Eh, I'll wait it out.
