2002 Tail lights fit 2000 S2000?

Hey All,

Does anyone know if the 02'-03' S2k tail lights perfectly fit on a 00' S2K? I did my research for almost a day and all I found was how to install AP2 tail lights onto an AP1.
I'm not trying to cut and trim the crap out of my car. Are the tail 02'-03' tail lights a perfect swap? Has anyone tried this swap on their AP1?

Best,

yes they are a direct fit, I just donated my 02 lights to a friend with an 00 MY, we did the swap in about 10 minutes, quick and easy. Make sure the gaskets are in good condition, they are famous for leaking and they tend to stiffen up over time.

Thanks for getting back to me. I like the 02' tail lights because of the silver ring, something that simple can make a tail light look nice. 00' are to plain for me.
What did you upgrade your tail lights too?

I agree 02-03 lights are nicer than 00-01 versions simply because of the silver ring, I never liked the 00-01's. When we did the swap on my friend's 00 he was over the moon, a small change can make a big difference, lol.

I changed to ap2 tails, which I also like, mainly for the night LED view. I still like the look of ap1 tails in daytime conditions, but I really like the ap2's at night with the LED pattern they have. Quite a bit of work to retrofit ap2's on an ap1.

AP2 lights, both front and rear, are by far the best. You made the right choice bro. I saw how much time and work you will need to invest for that conversion. Take your time and post some pics, maybe some before and after. It's always cool to see current updates of this conversion vs ones from years ago.
Good Luck!

For the conversion you just need to cut a lot of metal out of the rear panel. Not for the faint of heart, but not terribly difficult with an air saw. Parts needed are the ap2 tails, wiring conversion kit (I got the Spoonz plug and play wires), new ap2 gaskets, and gasket sealer. The lights will leak if you don't use gasket sealer as you end up removing a portion of the raised mating surface on the rear panel so the gasket sealer makes up for the sealing surface. I've only got a couple pics that I took during the installation process. The alignment turned out perfect and no leaks.
