Front fender damage, ideas of what to do?
 

Hey everyone,

I bought my s2k about two months ago now and my only issue are the front fenders. The previous owner had it sitting on TEIN springs with Enkei RPF1's this damaged the fender liners and kind of pushed out the fenders. I've since put coilovers and the wheels have been rubbing making the problem worse. The last weekend at the track really did it and bent and cracked the paint along the top of the fender on each side. I don't really care since they were already damaged, but now here's my questions:

1) Does it make a difference if I remove the fender liners?

2) Is there a fender flare that I can mould to the fender and have all repainted?

3) Should I just order aftermarket fenders and have them repainted?

Unless you're driving your car in the winter, I dont really see why removing the liner is too bad.

You could just roll your fenders to help with the clearance. Really depends on your wheel sizes.

Once you roll / flare them you could just repaint them. Other option would be to buy some aftermarket fenders which are wider but that again depends on your current wheel specs.

So to answer your question a little bit better what are your wheel specs and the drop on your car

I do not drive it in the winter, I may just spray the inside with rocker guard or something.

They're so damaged at this point though that I'm not sure it will look good if I do a fender roll :s

I want the fenders that are open, I just don't know which company makes them? Spoon? Mugen?

LOL should have rolled your fenders before you put wheels on. I have seen this happening a lot lately because people are carelessly putting wheels on there car without the proper precautions taken.

At this point you need a body shop to either fix your fenders or to paint you new ones. There are a number of aftermarket fenders that are wider than stock. Downforce, j's, asm, amuse, spoon all make different fenders and there is also replica of most of them. Just be careful of which reps you buy as many fit like crap. Also a brand new fender is something like $250 from honda you just have to paint it so that is also an option.

They were already damaged from the previous owner and I just made it worse.

I like the Spoon fenders, but I'm really worried about getting rock chips, etc down the whole side of my car because there is nothing protecting it. I'll look into the other makes and see what I can find!

Downforce makes the wider OEM style fenders which is what I would go with. You may want to go in the gallary and find people with the spoon or j's fenders and see if they have the issues you are worried about because I have not really seen or heard of them.

Don't know if they'll be cheap and have a shitty fitment. I'm also debating bring the stock ones in to a body shop to have them rolled out and repainted :s Just don't want the problem to reoccur lol.

I've got to say you go with buying OEM and having a shop work them over. Those ebay ones will cost you more in the long run anyway as you will need a shop to fit them (or you will spend HOURS prepping and filling them trying to get them to fit)

Yeah buy some new oem fenders or downforce fenders or even shine fenders before some random ones on ebay.

Can anyone comment on Carbon Fiber fenders, fitment, look, rubbing ect...???
