Default Low budget mud rock chip guard

I saw a few threads about adding a guard to protect against rocks, gravel etc hitting the front fender just behind the wheel. Here in Colorado there's a lot of sand/gravel on the roads this time of year so I figured it was time to install some. There's a really nice carbon fiber solution for $150, but I'm cheap so decided to make them myself. One thread suggested using lawn edging as a source for the plastic, but none of the home stores around here had anything suitable. So I found a plastic planter box with enough flat surface to use at Home Depot for $7.

From there, I removed the two screws that hold the fender liner and used some cardboard to make a template. I used some shop shears along with a box cutter to cut the parts out. The grinding wheel used very lightly helped smooth the curves. I'm attaching a PDF of the template for those of you who don't want to do it from scratch. I didn't want it to stick out too far so kept it small - but you could extend it a bit further to offer a bit more protection. It's a simple project that took less than an hour. Not sure why I didn't do this when I first got the car ...

Nice. It would be helpful to see a picture taken from back further so we can see how it looks from further away.

Absolutely. And instead of costing $7, they would cost $150.

How wide are the top and bottom? The assumption is the side against the ruler in the template is a straight edge.
Thanks
