Paint damaged caused by overpolishing
The overpolishing damaged the paint on the rear quarter. It is right at the edge next to the trunk gap. This is my first time doing detailing using the Porter Cable DA. A good lesson to learn on polishing the edge area. So what is the proper way to fix it wihout repainting the whole panel? Can I just use some touch up paint and clear coat with 3000 grit wet sanding to blend with the existing paint? |

careful application of touch up paint and it will hardly be visible. Small thin applications

This is what scares the crap out of me about using a machine on my car when I have zero experience using a machine. I must say I thought the DA was supposed to prevent this. Can you share a bit more about how it happened?

Well, if I ever muster up the courage to use my DA at least I know now to avoid the edges of body panels. Thanks for sharing that. I could easily have done the exact same thing.

Panel edges PLUS any creases. Like the crease that runs along the top of the fenders and quarter panels. That line near the bottoms of the door and fenders.
Do those areas by hand. |
