Default Painted plastic trim pieces between trunk and top

Ok, I've searched all over and I can't find a clear answer to how I can remove the two small painted plastic trim pieces between the trunk lid and the soft top. There is one on the right and left of the car. There is 1 screw that clearly needs to be removed which holds the piece in on one side, the other side must be held by a bold or screw as well. My question is how do I get to it? Do I have to remove the top? Or can access it by remove the plastic trim in the interior of the car (rear tray) and get to it without removing the top? Any help would be appreciated!

You will need to remove the screw and slide the plastic towards the rear with a little force. There is a clip under the part and a small piece of sponge tape holding it in place. It will slide out with a little patience.

It's difficult to get any type of grip on it to slide it. I thought about pulling it from the end that has the screw, but the plastic is very thin on that end and i'm afraid to break it. Aside from using my hands, pressing on the plastic and putting force toward the direction it needs to slide, is there any other method that was successful?

I need to replace mine as the paint has faded. Any further tips would definitely be appreciated. You dont have to remove the trim that runs all the way around the base of the soft top to remove those then?

I was able to peek under it and it’s definitely not doubled sided tape holding it down like everyone is saying. Maybe because I have a 2000 S2000, but it feels clipped on and I’ve even cracked the pieces trying too hard to drag it out with my fingers...might just have to live with this crappy faded painted plastic piece forever
