That bumper doesn't need to be replaced. I rather keep bumper with original vin if that was my car.

Thanks for your thoughts. What about the rear fender portion - a complete replacement? There is a gnarly 8in horizontal dent, and paint chips/scratches.

Long shot in the dark but I would clay bar then buff and wax that part to see how's the paint. After that, I'd consider a good PDR guy. In NYC, we have guys who can take that out but again, I can't see from here so I may be wrong. I would try that route first. That's of pint isn't cracked. Even if they can't take it out perfectly, you will have to do minimal body work. Worst case scenario would be to change the whole panel for a new one.

Interesting. That's exactly opposite of the advice my PDR shop gives. My tech says *don't* buff anything before PDR can look at it because you can thin the paint in the high spots and do little to nothing for the low spots. According to them, buffing should happen *after* the dents are worked out.

Either way, I personally always get my stuff to the pros for quotes. Conjecturing damage from pictures (particularly grainy ones with sub-optimal lighting) is a crap shoot at best.

But that's just how I do it. YMMV.

Thanks for your opinions. I'm taking it to two body shops on Saturday.

The first was recommended by S2Ki in Aliso Viejo - the second post here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/845...acks-services/

The second was "Service Kings" a chain shop recommended by my insurance carrier. Does anyone have experience with these kinds of chain shops? I would assume they don't see many S2ks.

The kicker is that my insurance carrier is willing to provide a lifetime warranty on repair and replacement at their recommended "Service Kings"

Which shop should I go to? The guarantee is very tempting. On the other hand, the Aliso Viejo shop has done many S2ks.

"s2ki" doesn't recommend anyone ever. Various people post their opinions and experiences on this forum. Sometimes a lot of people post positive opinions, but that doesn't mean "S2ki" as a site is recommending them. Some vendors are also paying sponsors on S2ki. But none of them are necessarily *endorsed* by S2ki as a site.

Aliso Viejo Auto Services is not a body shop.

Your bumper wouldn't need to be replaced.
The fender on the other hand can't technically be replaced because it's part of the car. The shop would just have to pull it i guess, might just tell them to roll your fenders lol.

The shop that your insurance is sending you to; Pay them a visit and check out their work, maybe they do good work, maybe not. Either way it's lifetime warranty so why not?

Good luck and sorry this happened to you, I hope you get it sorted out.
