Wait to find color, or respray??
I'm dying to get Grand Prix white, but I found a deal for a Silverstone gray that's reasonably priced and it's the year I want (2005). Should I just grab that now and save up for a respray down the road or just wait a bit longer and save up for the color I want. I grew up with my brothers Silverstone gray S2000 and I love the color, I just prefer white.
White is hard to find, I found one at one point for a decent price (had aftermarket parts) but I didnt have the money at the time/: |

Condition trumps everything for me including color but I don't claim that's consensus. The number of guys searching for white cars is evident here.
Cars are only original once. Changing the body color without removing everything from the interior and engine compartment will look like you did it with Home Depot rattle cans once a door is cracked or the hood opened. Even repaints of the same color can be problematical when bolts and seams get painted over. Why an '05? White '06 and later have the additional cachet of rarity as well as effortless tuning. -- Chuck |
Forget the repaint and do a wrap if you can't find a white one. To do a proper colour change by a professional shop would be more than 3K.

A wrap is still going to look goofy when the hood/bonnet, doors, and trunk/boot is opened. Buy the color you want but a specific color choice may limit you to cars in less desirable condition and/or premium prices for a non-performance item like color.
