12k/10k spring rates
Do you guys think the Fortune 500 coilovers use good quality dampers? MY 02 is my dd, but I also regularly autocross it and am looking forward to taking it out to the track sometime within a year. I'm really wanting to be able to tame the notorious snap oversteer that comes with the ap1's. What effects will the 12k/10k spring rates have on my handling while I'm staggered? Will it create more understeer?
and with the 12/10 u will induce more understeer
yes
I just did a 3500 mile road trip all throughout Colorado with 12/10 ks on Tein RSs. It felt great, not too stiff at all. I even drove up Mount Evans which has some nasty frost heaves and rough sections. I also sported the same springs when I lived in Alaska. They weren't too stiff there eiether.
i think the snap oversteer issue is a myth. after driving many different s2000s (both Ap1s and Ap2s), i have not once experience any unexpected oversteer. I think it came about mostly from honda fanboys buying the car (and it being their first rwd car) didn't know how to control it. the car is perfect.
As most have said thus far. Most of your comfort is based from proper valving. Our customers using DMP coilovers w/ standard spring rates (14.3k/10.7k) daily and/or compete on them. Valving is everything when it comes to comfort and performance balance.

They did a comparison on best motoring.
Ap1 vs ap2 and the ap2 was much more stable.
I have always found higher rates up front work well. I run 13k/11k and have for a long while. I think stiffer can start to be a compromise, especially if you run on tracks with poor surfaces. If running real aero then you start ramping up the rates from there though.
