I agree that increasing master cylinder along with caliper piston size would be the best case. But increasing the size of the caliper piston alone will increase clamping force, even without a larger master cylinder.

Another big factor of doing a bbk, even if it is just 4/2 pot is shaving rotational mass. The decrease in weight can have a huge effect on the way a car handles, accelerates and braking.

In most cases for the enthusiast a set of good pads, good fluid, SS lines, OE blanks and ducting is more brake then you need on a street driven weekend track car. Unless you have a high power to weight ratio dedicated track car it is usually overkill or want the appearance that the BBK brings to the table. If I was to do a BBK it would have to be a set of AP Racing, Stoptech ST40 or MOV'IT.

The calipers aren't rotating mass, just the rotors, but they are still unsprung mass. I don't know what BBK rotors weigh compared to stock. They've usually got aluminum hats lightening them up, but the bigger diameter and thickness adding it back.

Either way, shaving a little weight here and there is going to be all but unnoticeable to your average street tard or occasional HPDE driver.

you can play around with different front and rear brake pad compounds to get the desire brake balance. if you go with larger front rotors, then you can run an lower friction pads in the front.

Racing Brake is working on an OEM rear caliper BBK.

got any details on when racingbrake is coming out with their rear setup? is the rotor going to be vented?

i should be getting a set soon, less than a month. the rear disk will be vented. there will be two size, the smaller is to match up with the oem front brake and the larger is to match up with their 4 piston front BBK.

thanks for the info. would you happen to know the size of their front 4 piston BBK? Also, the kit will consist of a bracket and new rotors? 2 piece?

this info came before production, so i'm not sure how relevant they are.

front stock size rotor: 4 pistons, 2 piece rotors or 1 piece rotors with curved vanes.

front oversize rotor: 4 pistons, 324 x 28 mm 2 piece rotors

rear +1 size rotor: OE calipers, 307 x 17 mm vented 2 piece rotors

rear +2 size rotor: OE calipers, 328 x 17 mm vented 2 piece rotors

the front 4 pistons will come with adapter brackets. the rear will come with complete new replacement brackets, not adapters.
