Default Brake Master Cylinder Replacement Part for AP1

It's time to replace my brake master cylinder. The specified part for my 2001 AP is not available. I was wondering if the 2006+ part will work.

2001 AP1 PN = 46100-S2A-A02
2006 AP2 PN = 46100-S2A-A51

I also found a third party replacement part:
CentricBrake Master Cylinder 130.40041
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ceb-130-40041

I prefer going with original Honda parts whenever I can, but if I have no choice I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Centric part.

The Honda parts sites say the 2006 and later part (46100-S2A-A51) will not fit 2000-2005. Maybe has to do with VSA.
The photo of the Centric looks like a remanufactured part from the lettering on it. Seem to be many of the A02 version on eBay.

Parts being discontinued seems like to be the name of the game

What did you end up going with?

The whole master cylinder assembly is discontinued for the older models (ap1 or pre-facelifts in eu/japan) but there is a rebuild kit from honda (part number [color=#181818]01462-S84-A52) for those master cylinders. Additionally, the cap and reservoir are sold separately (46661-S2A-013)

I would for sure buy the Honda part.

I think the difference is that the 06+ has a different line fitting size. Maybe someone(s) here can confirm AP1 vs AP2 line sizing

Or if people can post photos of their 00-05 MC vs a 06+ MC, that might be helpful.

I contacted some parts stores that carry Centric, and they said this part is completely out of stock, and Centric's owner is bankrupt.
They even contacted Centric's sales partner for them and were told it's fully out of stock with very low chance of it coming back.

I think there are no more new replacements for BMCs if you have a AP1/ 04-05 AP2 anymore

The rebuild is probably the only option - or go used off ebay.

Just a different view: On Motorcycles, nobody ever buy a new Master, they only will be rebuild using OEM or aftermaket rebuild kits.
Some aftermarket parts for Motorcycles form thrustworthy brands are "made in japan" and, in this case, have the exact same distinctive plastic wrapping and printing on it as OEM Nissin ones. Just saying.

As this car ages, in my opinion, it´s time to search for high quality Aftermakert parts wich where produced in the same factory as OEM, just missing the HONDA sticker on the packaging.

I replaced the clutch hydraulics on mine. The clutch master i bought was from Nissin, the clutch slave i bought was from Adler. Both are the OEM suppliers for our car.
I could not find the slighest difference when comparing the old and the new ones on the workbench.
I dont think that there is a difference in quality between these parts and the Honda ones beside the price and the Honda sticker on the Box.

I think you’re responding to the original question on this post which is from 2023.

The current issue is there are no aftermarket or OE replacement parts for the 2000-2005 brake master cylinder available, not that they’re inferior.
